Clive Cox (1-1-5), David Marnane (1-0-1), Tim Etherington (1-0-3) and David Barron (1-0-3) have all trained the winner once in the past 10 years.
Willie Muir (0-2-2) saddled Texas Gold to be placed in the race twice while Michael Jarvis (0-2-2) has had 2 different runners in this since 2000, both placed.
Dandy Nicholls (0-2-27) has a poor record in the race having found just 2 places from 27 representatives.

Racing Style
8 of 10 winners (last 7) were held up in midfield or rear
The race is usually run at a fierce gallop and horses that are played late often do best.

Draw (excluding 2006 when run at York)
Horses drawn 1 to 7: 2-7-63
Horses drawn 8 to 14: 2-11-63
Horses drawn 15 or higher: 5-9-69

Price
8 of 10 winners were priced between 11/1 and 20/1
Favourites (2-1-11) have a fair record in this race having won 2 of the last 10 (including last year) and giving a level stakes profit of 2.00.

·         Won at class 2 level or higher

Nightmare race to be sure but fun for all that am siding with the 4 yr old Nocturnal Affair as the each way fancy in this -- well drawn and has won over a distance further can front run or be held up has a decent draw ran a blinder last time at Cork behind Roicede who came out again giving Amore Propre a race for the 32k group 1 flying five stakes is priced very attractively at 14/1

RESULTTTTTTTTTTTTTT A typically open running of this historic sprint handicap. There was plenty of pace in the race and the time was just under a second inside the standard. The main bulk of the field raced towards the stands´ side, with a pair in isolation near to the far rail. There was a bunch finish and those drawn high emerged on top, with five of the first six home coming from stalls 15 or higher.

Irish-based trainer David Marnane won this two years ago with Santo Padre and doubled up thanks to NOCTURNAL AFFAIR. The gelding, a Group 3 winner for Greg Ennion in his native South Africa, had run well on his debut for the Marnane yard at Cork and was relatively unexposed at sprint distances. He broke awkwardly from the stalls, but soon raced strongly tracking the pace and found sufficient after easing to the front entering the last furlong.
The winner should prove competitive in Listed and Group 3 races and his South African record suggests he will not mind some ease in the ground.

LADBROKES MALLARD STAKES (HANDICAP) (CLASS 2) Good 1m6f132y

This year’s renewal  at 1.55 Doncaster has past winners and should be a cracker with some in form animals with form at Chester and York where previous winners had finished in the first four.

The favs are usually from the younger brigade and they have an improving profile  3 and 4 yr olds having won  7 of the last running’s with 2 5 yr olds and one 7 yr old last year under Spencer (who has won three of the last ten)

Eternal Heart,  had been disappointing at Chester where he got all sorts of trouble  before he ran Motrice a decent race at Goodwood over 1m6f g/sft when he recorded  Dah of 108 (had  a bit to find at the weights,) was the only 3 yr old in the race he appreciated the good test of stamina and kept on dourly. He has more to offer as a stayer on this ground and distance getting in here at what is a pretty light racing weight. Won really well at Sandown on g/frm ground over 1m6f   carrying 9-07 and takes its racing well was considered a derby horse by the yard only being withdrawn late May.  Will Do for me

good luck today guys

DFS PARK HILL STAKES (GROUP 2) (FILLIES & MARES) (CLASS 1)

3 oclock at Doncaster (FILLIES & MARES) (CLASS 1) (3yo+) Winner £45,368 CH4
Good 1m6f132y

Three-year-old's had taken six of the last ten running's and the classic generation usually have the fore in this race
Fillies that have run well in the oaks have with a layoff since look to be where we should be putting the pin but there are none that went to Epsom this year. Looking for an animal that satisfies that stat you have to look at Meeznah who was held up the oaks last year and came with a storming run to lead inside the furlong only to be beaten a neck by Snow Fairy she has performed well over the distance at Goodwood on g/frm ground where she looked brilliant for this race - then in in-explicable to my eyes ran against the boys at newbury where she did not have a chance (again take alook at what won the race  as the boys are entered for the race on Saturday)
You have to look at the 3 yr olds as well  Both the probable favourite Set to Music who really is bred for this distance  and Gold plated (who is by far the biggest improver in the field but bred from Selkirk who does not have much better that 1m4f form) watch her finish over 1m4f at Leopardstown ) where she did nothing till the finishing straight - then say she can’t do this distance.
There has only been two winners of this race bigger that double figures in the last 10 years so am happy with the chances of Meeznah for the win but am impressed enough with Gold Plated to play the big price on betfair place market
good luck its a great race

Result ---- A decent renewal of the Park Hill, with three coming into this on a winning streak and a strong challenge from across the Irish Sea. Recent winners of the race were a fairly even split between the 3yos and the older horses.

The pace was strong from the off, so this was a proper test at the trip and they finished well spread out.

MEEZNAH finished third in this race last year and was a winner over this trip at Goodwood in July, but ran too badly to be true when favourite for the Geoffrey Freer last time. She bounced back to her very best here, though, racing comfortably in mid-division before being sent for home over 2f out. She lengthened very nicely when asked to go and win her race and took this with real authority. She is now beginning to confirm the form she showed when beaten a neck by Snow Fairy in last year´s Oaks and it will be interesting to see where she goes next.

Set To Music was bidding for a five-timer and had three of these behind her when successfully stepping up to 1m4f in the Galtres Stakes at York last month. She looked to be travelling better than the winner when slipstreaming her passing the 2f pole, but she was moving into unknown territory distance-wise at that stage and she could make no further impression on her rival.

Polly´s Mark had a bit to find with a few of today´s rivals on her last two efforts and finished behind Meeznah in this last year. Off the bridle over 2f out, she shied away to her right and may have been caught by a rival´s whip, but then bumped into another rival and hung back the other way. She was third-best on merit, however, and probably ran her race.

Cracking Lass ran poorly in both previous tries over this trip, but seemed to respond well to blinkers when chasing home Set To Music at York last month. However, she didn´t repeat the performance in the headgear, dropping herself out and hanging before the home straight before running on past beaten rivals.

Goldplated has been in cracking form in handicaps over shorter in Ireland lately, but she never made much impression here and held her head high when off the bridle over 2f from home. She had upwards of 10lb to find with her rivals, so faced a stiff task in any case.

Old Borough Cup 030911 haydock

Old Borough Cup is a 1M 6F class 2 handicap  today at 2.30 The race was promoted from class 3 to class 2 in 2004, so some of the trends will focus more on the last 6 runnings when staged under current conditions. In general younger, less exposed, horses that put in a career best last time do well in this.
3 year olds have the best record, winning 5 of the last 10 from less than 20% of the total runners. Strangely there were no 3yo runners last year and once again there is no 3yo representative this time around.

All 10 winners since 2000 were aged 3 to 5, though they did represent almost 79% of the total runners.
Horses carrying 9-0+ have won 6 of the last 10 (4 of 6 when run as a class 2) from 43.6% of the total runners
10 of 10 winners ran 4 to 7 times that season
10 of 10 winners finished in first 4 last time
7 of 10 winners posted career high Mr last time (2 others did so on penultimate start)
10 of 10 winners had run in 11 or fewer handicaps
7 of 10 winners had run in 6 or fewer handicaps
9 of 10 winners had won a race that season (exception was placed in Ebor on previous start)
10 of 10 winners had won over 1M 4F to 1M 6F
0 of 10 winners had previously won or placed at Haydock
Since race became a class 2 6 of 6 winners had won a class 2 or 3 race (but no higher)
9 of 10 winners (last 9) were priced 11/1 or shorter
Horses prominent in the betting have done well in this with the last 9 winners coming from the first 6 in the betting.
Favourites (5-3-12) have a very strong record, having won 5 of the last 10, giving a level stakes profit of 13.00.
usually won by fancied horses who are stepping up in distance - last years winner had run well at newbury 1m5f (Gosden is winning anything he enters at the moment this year also)
Activate was brought down in the same race this year under Spencer where it went off at 13/2 has to prove it has recovered from that horrible crash)

Gosden has the favourite and a couple of others but Buick mount Zuider Zee holds a favourites chance on its run last time at Ascot where he did all its best work at the end of the 1m4f

THE HORSE and Joker in the pack for this is the 5 yr old Deaville Flyer who is dropped back down in distance but has the visor ( love a horse dropped back in trip wearing it for the first time) GREAT RUN YORK 090711 1M6F Deauville Flyer was not done any favours by the outside draw and was another that had to come from well back, so he emerges with credit. He could have done with easier ground and is yet another likely Ebor candidate.
Result ----  A high-class, competitive handicap that usually features horses who took part in one of the big middle-distance or staying handicaps at York. The pace looked sound and three drew clear in the last furlong.

BAUER, touched off in the Melbourne Cup in 2008 but rarely seen since, was back to a more suitable trip here having been racing over shorter. Racing off his lowest mark since 2007, he gradually got into the action and proved the strongest in the last furlong. This was a terrific piece of training and it will be interesting to see where the gelding goes next.

Nehaam, placed in Listed and Group company in 2009, came back from a long absence to win a handicap off 99 on his second appearance. He finished 12th in the Ebor off 4lb higher but, at this slightly lower level, ran well off the same mark, making headway from the rear to deliver his challenge and only being run out of it late on.

Zuider Zee had gained his wins at around 1m4f but appeared to stay this trip in three previous attempts. Never far away, he came to have every chance but was just outstayed. He has been held off this sort of mark for the past year but the handicapper is unlikely to relent if he continues to run this well.

Ajaan seems best at extreme distances these days, having been a winner at 2m2f and third in the Queen Alexandra in the past year. He proved he still has the pace for this trip, aided by the good gallop, and he only faded late on.

Tominator, the Northumberland Plate winner off 90, had run well at Chester last time, handles fast and easy ground but is 10lb higher now and, although running well, that seemed to find him out.

Ashbrittle, a winner at this trip in a first-time visor last autumn off 2lb lower, has not worn the headgearsince. He ran a decent race, although he did several rivals no favours when ducking left under pressure inside the last 2f.

Deauville Flyer is well suited by a flat track and has running well but is 11lb above his last winning mark. He travelled better than usual in the first-time blinkers but was beginning to struggle when broadsided by Ashbrittle.

The Betfred Sprint Cup 3.35 Haydock 030911

Think outside the box for this race guys

No strong trends here with the ages of the winners being fairly evenly spread out.
Fillies/mares (2-4-18) have done well in this group 1, gaining 2 wins and filling 20% of the places from just 13% of the total runners.

Recent/Past Form
7 of 10 winners finished 1st or 2nd last time (2 of 3 exceptions unplaced in a group 1 on previous start)
10 of 10 winners had run at least twice that season
8 of 10 winners (last 7) achieved highest MR in last 3 runs
9 of 10 winners had won a listed race or higher (exception 2nd in a group 1)
6 of 10 winners finished in the first 3 in a group 1 in past 2 starts
9 of 10 winners had won over 6F or 7F (exception won Nunthorpe last time)
7 of 10 winners were priced between 9/1 and 25/1
There have been plenty of double-figure priced winners, including the last 2.
Favourites (2-2-10) have won just 2 of the last 10, giving a level stakes loss of 1.75.
you are looking for a horse:
·         Fillies & mares do well
·         Run at least twice in 2011
·         Finished first or 2nd last time out
·         Achieved highest Mr in last 3 starts
·         Won a listed race or higher
·         Finished in first 3 in a group 1 in past 2 runs
·         Won over 6F or 7F
·         Ran in a group 1 sprint at Royal Ascot
·         Ran in Temple and/or Hackwood Stakes this season
·         Finished in first 4 in Nunthorpe or Maurice Du Gheest last time ( Kingsgate Native ran a blinder to get 4th in the race had won the Nunthorpe if you fancy Hoof It take a look at the stats for this one too
·         Drawn in top 5 stalls
·         Trained in Britain
Blogged the winner in this race last year Markab won so well - blogged it 040910 betfred sprint cup won so well 7 yr old just danced away from them Joker in the pack ---Markab age 7 drawn 14 2nd to Equiano ascot 150610 from a poor draw 14/1 king stand stakes Markab was fourth in the Wokingham at last year´s Royal meeting and only gained his first Group win last month. He had never run at the top level, nor had he raced over the minimum trip, but ran a cracker. Leading the group of five who raced away from the rail, he moved into second place overall with a furlong left and battled on willingly, although never able to reach the winner. Sure to be suited by a step back up in trip to this 6flngs today

The form horse today has to be Fanshaws Society Rock who holds all the key stats and the rain may well help as it patters down at Haydock  draw not that hot but does have the best rating for a soft ground 6flngs horse. will it rain enough?

Will be taking my chances with Sole Power who does run well within 10 days and is brought over after its brilliant run behind Candy's  Amore Propre last Sunday has a similar profile to last years winner stepping up to 6flngs he won the Nunthorpe(66/1) and theTemple stakes last year - you also have to respect the visits that Lynham makes to these shores.

The thing is he is over 6flngs today and Lynham has been quoted as saying "I will never run him over 6flngs again" back in march last year.. I am hoping that the flatter track its blistering late run and its run last week will show the 6flngs is  his for the taking now he's grown another  year..Agreed its  a back to lay animal but am hoping for that big run today have backed it at 28s and put in a lay at 3s in case the animal cant get the 6 flngs

Result ----A big field for one of the major 6f sprints of the season and it produced a dramatic and close finish, with the July Cup proving the key.

DREAM AHEAD dropped back in trip to win the July Cup on fast ground from Bated Breath but had since been wellheld in the Maurice de Gheest on soft ground that should have suited. He bounced back here, being never far away and then just doing enough to hang on despite again showing a tendency to wander around under pressure, with the fast ground probably a factor. He hampered the third more than the runner-up in the closing stages but the result was allowed to stand.

Bated Breath, a progressive sprinter who is best on fast, had finished runner-up to Dream Ahead in the July Cup and the weight for age was less here. He came through to challenge the winner and kept straighter than his rival, only to lose out by the width of a cigarette paper. He deserves to win a Group 1 sprint but his options this season are few, although he might be kept in training.

Hoof It, an extremely progressive sort who had proved suited by this track in the past, had won the Stewards´ Cup under a record burden before finding things not going right for him in the Nunthorpe. He tracked the pace before being produced late, only to be carried left by the winner inside the last furlong. He was in front soon after the line and can be considered an unlucky loser. He has proved himself up to this level now and he will no doubt be back contesting all the big sprints again next year.

Genki is a reliable sort who came here with a course record of one win and two places, including third in this race last season. With the visor back on instead of the blinkers he wore last time, he missed the break and was last until around halfway, but then stayed on well in the closing stages to finish on the heels of the principals. He looks sure to find another opportunity before the season is out.

Elzaam found the drop back to 6f helping him win a Listed race in May and had posted decentefforts in the Golden Jubilee and July Cup since. He had a bit to find on that form but ran another sound race, if no threat to those in the frame. He can make his mark at a slightly lower level.

Society Rock has made up into a top-class sprinter this season, winning the Golden Jubilee and finishing second in the Maurice de Gheest. He had a bit to find with Bated Breath on previous C&D form, but did not help his chance with a tardy start.

Dalghar had put up a decent effort over 7f last timebut had previously been well held in the Golden Jubilee and the July Cup and had a bit to find. Wearing a hood for the first time, he ran well for a long way and is the sort who could make his mark in something like the Prix de la Foret, where softer ground will be in his favour.

Bewitched, a multiple winner at up to Group 3 level who handles any ground, had reportedly pulled a muscle when a well-beaten favourite in the Golden Jubilee. Having her first run since, she was held up out the back before doing her best work in the closing stages. She can win again at Group level, if not in the top grade.

Hitchens, in the form of his life this season, beating Tiddliwinks at the Curragh and finishing third in the July Cup, was having his first run since the July Cup and performed creditably. He normally benefits from a recent outing and is one to bear in mind when he next appears.

Kingsgate Native, who finished ahead of Hoof It when fourth in the Nunthorpe, had been first and second in the Temple Stakes on two previous visits here. He had his chance but faded late on.

Sole Power won last season´s Nunthorpe and beat Kingsgate Native in the Temple Stakes over 5f here in May, but was beaten in a Group 3 the previous weekend. Having his first try over 6f since 2009, he showed up well before appearing not to last home.

Wootton Bassett, an unbeaten juvenile who finished fifth in the Poulains on his return, had been held in both the St James´s Palace and Maurice de Gheest since and was dropping back further in trip. He showed up early before fading and, although not up to winning at the top level on this evidence, owes nobody anything.[AR]

QUOTES: David Simcock, trainer of Dream Ahead, said: "That´s a massive relief after France. France was a massive disappointment and I can´t see any difference between now and France. We rode him much closer than in France. I don´t think I´ll ever have a horse half as good. He´s got two options, the Foret in France and one at Ascot, but I´ll talk to the owner before making a decision." Roger Charlton, trainer of Bated Breath and Genki, said: "What can I say? He´s made up massive on Dream Ahead. Dream Ahead was three or four lengths better than us in the July Cup and it´s only a nose today. Steve [Drowne] said he wants fast ground, faster than today, so I wouldn´t know where to go. Genki has run a brilliant race like he always does."

an email I received - worth Sharing

Hi everyone does any of this sound familiar?  Thoughts on a letter to “betting shop Dave”

Dear Mr Cameron,

Please find below our suggestion for fixing the UK's economy.
Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan.
You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan:
There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force.
Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire.
Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed

2) They MUST buy a new British car.
Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage -
Housing Crisis fixed

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university -
Crime rate fixed

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week .......
And there's your money back in duty/tax etc

It can't get any easier than that!
P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances

Let's put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.
This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks.
They'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc and they'd receive money instead of paying it out. They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance. Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell.
They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose. They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counselling, pool and education. Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free, on request. Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens. Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls. There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised. Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week.  Live in a tiny room and pay £600.00 per week and have no hope of ever getting out.

COWS  (Just a thought )---
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Appleby almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the county of Cumbria? And, they even tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 125,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country.
Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

If you think this would work, please forward to everyone you know.
Think about this ... If you don't want to forward this for fear of offending someone -- YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM! It is time for us grumpy old folk of Britain to speak up!

Tipster challenge september

Now the rules have changed and its a 7 week reward for only the top tipster the tips challenge has settle down to a more even playing field - 1 POINT EXPOSURE ON ALL BETS
LAY selections now carry a 1 point exposure (risk), the same as for BACK selections.
Examples
A BAK selection which wins at 5/1 wins 5 points.
A BAK selection which wins at EVENS wins 1 point.
A BAK selection which wins at 1/5 wins 0.2 points.
A BAK selection which loses at any price loses 1 point.
A LAY selection which wins at any price loses 1 point.
A LAY selection which loses at 5/1 wins 0.2 points.
A LAY selection which loses at EVENS wins 1 point.
A LAY selection which loses at 1/5 wins 5 points.
That stops the 100/1 layers thank goodness and there is good reason to think that laying the horses is  a tad more scientific and thus rewarding  there are plenty of 1/5 on shots worthy of opposing   good luck all
