BREEDING ANALYSIS: With three runners in a Derby field of 13 and two out of five in the Coronation Cup, Montjeu´s influence as a sire of high-class middle-distance runners is clear. Just as notable is his lack of runners in this year´s Oaks, enhancing the view that he is a much better sire of colts than fillies.
Pour Moi´s Derby victory, and the second place of Galileo´s son Treasure Beach further illuminate the success of Sadler´s Wells and his sons when mated with mares by Shirley Heights and his descendants, especially Darshaan. Montjeu has produced stayers such as Honolulu and Blue Bajan from mares by Darshaan and Group 1 winners Fame And Glory and Montare from mares by Shirley Heights.
Pour Moi is a three-parts brother to Prix Saint-Alary runner-up and dual Oaks-placed Gagnoa (by Sadler´s Wells) and out of an unraced three-parts sister to the dam of Feilden Stakes winner Atlantic Waves (also by Sadler´s Wells). Further back, it is the excellent family of Awaasif, Lammtarra and Bosra Sham.
