Thursday 29th march 2012

Yesterday racing was a bit of a wash out for me down on the day and the racing was rushed and done in a fog of incahol -- hopefully better results today

at Newcastle G/frm - first hdle( its number 7 as well)  omitted which will help the ex flat horses and bumpers who have performed well on the fast surface -
4.20 Lucy Alexander is on the Newcastle swinger Kings Chorister currently 5/1 who travels well without finding a lot  now upped again in the handicap but has performed well on the track and ground though its best speed has been right handed has been a well beaten favorite -  I would never think of laying this profile horse before the race but instinct says a short priced lay will be on offer late and that's my route in. Lucinda has a very well handicapped Beat The Band in this under Campbell (Campbell is currently experiencing his best ever season in the saddle 33 winners and counting his favourite race is along distance chasing)  and it was a very good bumper horse on fast ground recording marks in the mid 90s. Its been let down by its hurdling since joining the yard have got the early 12/1 and shortening nicely - has been performing well in its schooling and is considered a summer horse by the yard
Edit thank goodness did not lay that horse (though I did back the second who is now a nag me animal - BUTTTTTTTTTT  Beat The Band,, has struggled over hurdles for this yard but as a result has tumbled down the ratings. He has  had a wind operation and was well backed, but was under pressure and going nowhere some way from home what they do at Home does not translate to the track and we have to ask questions about this one now. On the other hand the twitter'd animal I took at a price  Urban Code gelded since a distant second at Musselburgh in November when blinkered for the first time, looked to be travelling best when taking charge, only to get mugged near the line. A winner three times on the Flat last year, he is reckoned a stuffy type and might just have needed this.
By the way he is most interested in the novice Kris Cross - make a notebook nag me for that one guys)
4.50 Rolecarr will do for me in this chase reckon its got 9lbs in hand for this track and distance 3miles right up its street ground not a problem and Lucy Alexander claim only run on this ground once and won well Absolute rubbish run from this horse who will have to be put out to grass for the summer me thinks

Ffoss las going is good though its a sunny day and could well get quicker
2.50 (and when will the master Bowen get his string running well - could it be today?) Durwen Pride has an improving profile, money for it this morning which is a plus, acts on the ground and track has to remain improving but back to 3miles and am on.  Edit another to put away for the summer something wrong or just plain jaded

4.30 Rio Gael not been seen for yonks 144 days is a typical horse for Bowen - not run well fresh and this would be an extreme distance - loves the ground thats true 6 wins on good or g/frim) has had entries but withdrawn the last month - will be watching him at his optimum of 2m2f and the current 16/1 betfair could give me an excellent trade. He has three in the race and that means he has little idea of the best of them - Taffy Thomas does have a chance aand Obrien rides this one - only 10-00 on its back attracts and went well g/frm at Chepstow so he should get the distance Pure Faith is a decent hrlder who can carry weight a specialist at Aintree and should be noted today for an entry there for the festival -- keep your eyes open for all three animals in the market cos the yard does like a punt   so you can see its a fascinating race -
Edit all three ran encouraging races really and can  be seen to win something before long but the yard form is dire

Horse to watch out for in my beloved hunter chasers was DollyDo  in the 5.05 Ffoss las under 16yr old rider  J Ponting who will make his mark looked really neat and maybe a rush of blood to the head was offered at big prices on betfair   made my day and both he and the horse are on my nag me list

Good Luck today - see you on twitter

Bob
