4.50 Perth 2m3f hdle g/frm

Click image to enlarge - the selection must be Anibale Caro for me in this but the others are respected especially Right Or Wrong as the each way selection

Good luck today bob

POST RACE -- Not a brilliant selection Annibale Caro - Held up, headway before 3 out, effort next, no impression from last (op 7-1 tchd 6-1) didn´t prove too fluent early on this return to hurdling, but still ran a fair race and would be entitled to get closer when dropped in grade.

Racing post review - WIKAALA eventually came out best and handed his yard yet another winner at the track. He unsurprisingly travelled sweetly into contention and, despite taking time to settle the issue when asked for an effort, his jockey ensured he would not be denied. He is talented enough to win again this summer, but his profile suggests he is one to be opposing again next time out.

Dishdasha, who won the novice chase on this card last season, was 6lb higher than when scoring again at Stratford. That put him up to a career-high mark in this sphere, but he ran a big race under top weight and remains in great form.

The runner-up´s stablemate Rampant Ronnie was returning from a 238-day layoff. He got to the front early as he prefers and didn´t go down without a real fight nearing the business end, so this was obviously a very pleasing comeback.

Spa Wells travelled nicely along with the winner into contention, but his response when put under pressure was limited and it´s not hard to see why he sports headgear.

For the Nutritional therapist - with distinction

Yesterday I was at my local CO-OP buying a large bag of Purina dog food for my loyal pet and was in the checkout queue when the woman behind me asked if I had a dog.

What did she think I had an elephant? So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again.

I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in hospital last time, but that I'd lost 2 stones before I woke up in intensive care with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again.

(I have to mention here that practically everyone in queue was now enthralled with my story.)

Horrified, she asked me if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff an Irish Setter's arse and a car hit us both.

( I thought the Girl behind her was going to have a heart attack she was laughing so hard.)

I'm now banned from the Co-op.

Better watch what you ask retired people. They have all the time in the world to think of daft things to say.

MONDAY MORNING 28th june __ UGG RACING

THOSE OF YOU WHO SUBSCRIBE TO VISUAL FORM BOOK - GET IN TOUCH WITH ME WE CAN COMPARE RACES AND HEADINGS USED - NEW USERS PARTICULARLY AS I HAVE TEN YEARS EXPERIENCE OF USING THE BOOK - CLICK TO ENLARGE THE IMAGE FOR THIS RACE

today we have really poor quality racing and therefore poor quality animals. have taken the richest race today - the 6 Furlongs race at Pontefract at 3.15, I say the richest its £9,346 which you have to admit is a pretty poor prize money for any day but a Monday! At least in this race the animals will be about the best on offer.

Drawing board is on offer at 13/2 currently -- Channon has two in the race and it will pay to keep an eye on the outsider for him Saucy Buck - its race against Zebedee at ascot class 3 was good in the context of this race

good luck all

Post Race --- gave 2lbs to the favourite and just got beat miles clear of the third beaten by the slight weight and the disadvantage of the box both well clear

The Selections for the Northumberland Cup

Selections for the cup this morning are actually high drawn in the main of the last 10 years (see previous blog) i also notice that this race is hardly ever run on anything but soft or g/soft ground - that may affect the stats for the draw as in the main over 2miles the box does not have that much significance boxes 4and 5 and 14 15 have the highest returns
these boxes are plus in my book
So am very interested in
AAIM TO PROSPER 25/1 on its bril run under Dettori against Junior at Ascot over 2m4f g/frm - had a stinker of the draw that day out of the 3 box and had no daylight until the finishing bend
La Vecchia Scuola has a plum drawn 13 and has major chances at the current 33/1 has beaten Mamlook over hdles and ran a cracker against Dazzling light at chester will be staying on well
And the biggest dark horse in the lineup has to be MACARTHUR currently 85/1 betfair ex Obrien animal that crying out for a distance race has won in top class 1 and look at its run at Newmarket 1m6f pressed leader for a long time then as they came he battled back for 3rd (well beaten) in the last couple of furlongs this is his time of year and is in my book 3 lbs well in for its run over 1m5f good ground at chester out of montjea this animal will stay and is def place potential

good luck today guys (click the Visual Form book page in the post to enlarge the image)

3.45 DOWN ROYAL FILLIES OAKS HANDICAP

ASCOT COULD NOT HIT A COWS ARSE WITH A BASEBALL BAT !!! - THANKS TO THE TIMEFORM PAGE FOR GETTING ME ALERTED TO SOME DECENT WINNERS !!!! Calm down now and lets get back to bread and butter winning
so today have looked at the biggest prize races and am drawn to the 3.45 at down royal Ulster Oaks fillies handicap stakes worth £23k to the winner --- am looking for a big upset in the race and am betting that Vivacious Vivienne cant give this weight to these - look at the race where 4 met before at Navan -- above (click to enlarge) you will see Vivienne has a massive weight to give Daliyra who finished only a hd behind her-- and dont discount Sugar Baby Love who put up a really good performance in lower grade handicaps and was in a horrible drawn 14 against these carrying 9-06 so am laying the favourite Vivienne and BACKED Daliyra
good luck today Bobt

The Golden Jubilee Stakes

The Golden Jubilee Stakes (formerly the Cork And Orrery) is the second group 1 sprint of the meeting. Run over a furlong further than the 5F King’s Stand, it has often paid to look for horses that were finishing well in the King’s Stand on the Tuesday. (Total Gallery was 9/1 out of the 11 box - never got into the race had been saddled with a Grade 1 penalty for last year´s Abbaye win in both of his starts this spring, finishing fifth in the Temple latest. Better was expected of him racing on level terms again, and his trainer made confident noises, but he didn´t travel like he usually does and was always towards the rear before his rider eased him off. This was not his running. (tried in pieces today)

Price - 5 of 10 winners were priced 16/1 or bigger

Plenty of upsets in this race in the past 10 years and only 3 winners went off at single figure odds.

Favourites (0-4-10) have failed to win any of the last 10, giving a level stakes loss of 10.00.

Lower draws have held an advantage recently with 3 of the last 4 winners coming from stall 4 or below.

Summary:

Based on the trends from the past 10 years you are looking for a horse:

· Aged 6+ (or a 3yo that finished in first 2 at Royal Ascot ‘09)

· Ran in past 40 days

· Won a listed or group race

· Finished in the first 5 in a group 1 sprint

· Ran in the King’s Stand on Tuesday

· Previously finished in the first 4 at Royal Ascot

· Trained outside Europe

· Priced 16/1 or above

· Drawn 1 to 5

Ok so what's my fancy? well they have been running best out of the high drawn animals so thats were i will stick - though think that of the European you have to fancy Marchant D'or who has a low draw and War Artist drawn high have chances -

but seriously really dont have any great convictions apart from the place market for PRIME DEFENDER - has not done well at ascot in the past but went so well at york 6flngs last time - went off 20/ that day and had been brought out quickly within 4 days to do it - is a three-time winner at Listed level but has always come up short in better company. He´s a reliable campaigner who goes on any ground, though, and he made the most of his fitness advantage to notch his first Group race win at the 20th attempt. this is the first time has run at Ascot with any decent form coming into the race --- will also take a chance on Moores horse in the place market - Total Gallery

this is tricky and no more than a fun race - be lucky whatever you go for

The Wokingham Stakes 4.25

These speed figures are for the top drawn animals click to enlarge (DaS is my rating you can see that Noverre is well ahead on its last run )

Horses drawn 21 to 30 have held the edge in this, winning 6 of the last 9 and the last 3 winners have been drawn 26 of 26, 26 of 27 and 25 of 26.

The Golden Jubilee at 3.45 (the race before) which is run over the same course and distance should also gives us clues as to the best draw.

Price

7 of 11 winners came from the first 4 in the betting

No major trend on the prices, 3 winners went off 20/1+ & 3 favourites won.

Favourites (3-2-10) have done well in the last 10 years, winning the race 3 times and giving a level stakes profit of 8.25.

Summary:

Based on the trends from the past 10 years you are looking for a horse:

· Aged 4 or 5

· Carrying 8-11 to 9-6

· Officially rated 93 to 102

· Run 1 to 4 times this season

· Won or placed last time out in past 50 days

· Posted a career high RPR last time

· Won over 6f or 7f

· Won at class 2 level or better

· Drawn high (21 to 30)

· First 4 in the betting (favourite does well)

ok we are looking only at the high drawn number for this race Genki is the shortest price at 9/1 betfair currently is a 6yr old who has won c/distance second run this season was def ring rusty last time at the start but powered home for 4th beaten 2+l behind Hawkeyethenoo which is tremendous form - could the bounce factor occur here had not run for 203 days and a risky 9/1 though rested for 48 days - if no bounce is the one to beat no doubt.

Am siding with Noverre to Go for a win and place at really good odds currently 20/1 achieved a mark of 92 in my handicap that day and was always holding the field for a very good win on good grnd at newmarket achieving a speed rating in my book of 102 which is wayy better than anything else drawn high today won here 6flngs again with a decent speed rating of 95 as a 3 yr old

am watching the betting on RilyesKeepingFaith

Thoughts on the Gold cup

was so impressed with Rite Of Passage that I made it the horse that will go as far as any after that run. It had never encountered ground that fast before and because it had put up so many great performances over hdles and fences that's where my thinking had him running his best - How wrong can you be -- Had it top joint rated with my selection with the ground being a major minus..
This performance is as good as Yeats ever achieved and that one went on to win again and again.
Would really appreciate Gerry Lennon giving me his views on this performance but will never underestimate this horse whatever type of distance race (and whatever ground ) it is put into - at only 6 years old this is a super star for the next few seasons

Record of 4 & 5 year olds: 4-10-73

Record of horses aged 6+: 6-10-52

Horses aged 6+ have a stronger record, however the stats are slightly distorted by Yeats having won the race at 6, 7 and 8.

Two 4yos winners finished 5th in a Classic the year before (French Derby and English St Leger).

Gender

Fillies & mares (0-0-7) have failed to fill one place from 7 representatives however only one of them went off shorter than 12/1 (13/2).

2 of 10 winners ran in the Yorkshire Cup, finishing 16

Trainers

British trained runners: 5-14-100 (all 5 ran in Henry II or Yorkshire Cup)

Irish trained runners: 4-2-14 (all 4 wins were Yeats)

French trained runners: 1-3-6 (all 6 ran in Prix Vicomtesse Vigier last time)

German trained: 0-1-2

Other: 0-0-3

Aidan O’Brien (4-0-7) has trained Yeats to win the race for past 4 years, though his other 3 runners in the race all failed to make the places (all 3 were priced 8/1 or bigger).

Mark Johnston (2-1-8) trained Royal Rebel to win the race in 2001 and 2002.

Saeed Bin Suroor (2-1-20) has trained the winner twice in the past ten years though his representatives have made up 16% of the total runners and none of his 10 runners in the past 5 years have made the frame.

Michael Stoute (0-3-6) has seen his last 3 colts to run in this finish 2nd-3rd-2nd.

Dermot Weld (0-2-3) saddled Vinnie Roe to be placed in this race twice.

Price

9 of 10 winners were priced 8/1 or below & came from first 4 in betting

Not a race to be looking for a big outsider with only 3 horses priced above 8/1 making the places in the past 5 years.

Favourites (5-2-10) have won 5 of the last 10 (4 of last 5) and show a level stakes profit of 1.62 over the past 10 years.

· Won or placed in Prix Royal Oak, Prix Du Cadran, Goodwood Cup or Irish Leger last season

· French trained runners respected

Selection each way has to be Bannaby winner over this distance and currently 25/1 in the betting

here is the Racing Post comment of its wins against Kasbah Bliss and Yeats in the 2008 Prix De Cadron over 2m4f good ground DRAN (GROUP 1)

- This was a two-horse race according to the betting, with Yeats odds-on to record a sixth Group 1 win, and World Hurdle-targetedKasbah Bliss the clear second favourite. Yeats, who had warmed up for last year´s Cadran with a victory in the Irish St Leger, was running this time off the back of a fair absence, having not raced since July, when he won the Goodwood Cup. The way he ran suggested he may have benefited from a race since July, though it has to be said that he has never won outside Britainor Ireland. He has run five times now out of his geographical comfort zone, and all five times he has run below-par. Connections will no doubt bear that in mind in deciding whether to persevere with the admirable seven-year-old. All looked to be going swimmingly until the false straight there was barely any change in the order until push came to shove entering the straight proper but Yeats found disappointingly little on ground that shouldn´t have inconvenienced him.

BANNABY, who had finished a six-length second to Kasbah Bliss in the Prix Gladiateur, has finished first or second in his seven races since last November, a commendably consistent run of form, though this was much his best runon his 25th start. He was never far away before taking up the running a furlong and a half out. He edged right and finished on the far rail, but never looked in much danger of being mown down, despite the narrow margin of victory. The ground would have been quick enough for the winner, and he has yet to be tested on faster than good. At five, he is young enough to be campaigned in top staying races for a good few seasons. He´s an entire, so hurdling presumably is not an option for the time being. His trainer indicated he would be aimed at the Ascot Gold Cup in 2009. (did not run)

His recent form has been over 1m7f on good ground in May - Held up in midfield going well, smooth headway 4f out to join leaders, led inside final furlong, easily

the ground has to be the worry for this animal but in every other regard has an outstanding chance of reaching the frame at big odds

good luck all - now all you have to do is get the tricast"
