4.25 Yarmouth 2miles and a strong fancy for Whitcombe Spirit --- form is way off but that because he has been running on good ground – the expected g/soft or softer will be right up his street and has a major chance today if he gets those conditions (Wednesday it was pouring down late) was still considered no worse than good ground but overnight rain and the way Yarmouth does not drain makes me confident he will get his conditions. Newcastle last year was btn a short hd by Sendali who was receiving 8lbs (that one has come out and won again in the soft ground 2miles off a 4lbs higher mark same grade. Whitcombe Spirit has the best form and mark in this race with G/soft form to his name on the flat

Whitecombe Spirit ran off 54 that day(Visual Form book handicap mark achieved was 57 Last run at Chepstow 38 days ago he ran off 55 on unsuitable good ground the hill taking its toll but still achieved a mark of 51 in the VSB (Hassadini beat him home that day in receipt of 12lbs but today that is reduced to 8lbs)

Has been tried over hdles but jumping was pretty near hopeless and was way below his flat form.

Today he runs off 52 – with these conditions I expect him to run to a mark of around 58.

The animal that will pay to have on your side is the in running selection Honourable Endeavour who lags around the back for the most part of the race with a decent chance on its run on the all weather at lingfield off a mark of 53 and is off a mark of 50 today – ran a decent race last time here but will benefit from any cut.

will update tomorrow but wanted to post tonight as I expect Whitcombe to be backed if the weather prediction for overnight showers and ditto during the morning is accurate

Update from Yarmouth track correspondent - 6:53am Morning bulletin - The going is good (7.5 on GoingStick) and it was dry overnight. from the BT weather page forecast showers throughout the day --- if this is the case and the rain hits the track then the current price will tumble (if the yard are happy with its prep.)

Current prices from racing post Whitcombe Spirit 25/1 generally - the Betfair price of 20s has gone and now into 12s but this will recover a bit methinks.

Update friday 11th Ground stayed good my selection was withdrawn
