Have to say the racing is not brilliant today and analyser shows few with stand out chances
Colour Code Place selection --- win and place Selection------- In Running ---- Lay selection
the 3.45 Folkstone is on g/frm ground at the moment though some threatening clouds - The weather is fine, although there are darker clouds on the horizon and precious little blue sky. There is a brisk wind, which is going to half help them home up the straight. The ground is good to firm (good in places) on the straight course but good for the round course in the main with G/frm on the home turn to the post.
currently there are nine left in this race. Lady Herries has two runners and they both have a big shout.Seb Saunders is her top Jockey and he goes for Bell Island who hasn't won anything outside of the all weather at Lingfield (apart from 1m3f at Brighton but I don't take a lot of notice Brighton form anywhere else. Did put up a decent run against My Mate Max last time at Warwick. in a class 4 race over 1m6f g/frm
I like animals who come to 2miles with a long layoff - Seb does not agree and has gone for her other other one but I think Sir Freddy really does need to go fresh and did not even start its run at sandown till a furlong out in a 1m6f class 4 it ran really well to the line that day and a strong pointer to an animal who needs a distance good ground and a layoff (72 dsr on that occassion) under Seb
(if anyone can put a pointer to why he's chosen it will be grateful for feedback) I see however that Sir Freddy is owned by Mrs Herries and Friends whilst Bell Island is owned by L G Lazarus who Seb has a 1 in 7 strike rate for.
Reading http://flatracingxpert.blogspot.com/ blog by Colin on Timeform page he is expecting a big ride by Dobbs today and points out Sir Freddy is his only ride at Folkstone. (thanks Colin)
I also have to put a word in for Martyns selection on the wall - On Terms - could be anything this animal who rallied like a a real honest stayer at Goodwood over 2miles in a class 5 that was its first time on grass and achieved at least this mark of 5lbs more he carries today There is a health warning that he refused to enter the stall last time at bath and a bet after the off would look the best prospects so for me its an in running animal
My lay has to be Sweetheart who just seems to need further than 2miles these days has achieved this mark easily off this weight in this race last year and has been competing in higher grades he achieved a mark just short of today by 2lbs but the race was run a long way from home and on the collar where he simply outstayed the rest -- as the race develops and looks as if they are going hammer and tongs a long way from home there will be time to bet it back!
hope you enjoyed the read and will post a comment - cheers Bob
