This is an open letter to all the Timeform Radio wall posters.
Ok am puzzled – am 71 years old and having been in racing as a groom, bookie clerk for my dad, inveterate gambler for most of those years own parts of animals both flat and jumps and know the gentlemen of the turf across the country – have seen big gambles and big losses, drunken revelry and drunken despair. But adore racing horses and the whole shooting match.
So why is it my young friends that I appear to be the only one on the wall who uses my computer for my form guide?
It’s not the money; you are spending more than I am on racing papers or Timeform.
You have some brilliant insights to racing – some of the postings are inspired- have learned to read them where you are more confident than other occasions. I am reading more and more where the selection you put up have depth (when I first joined you -the majority of posts were simply the name of the horse.)
So why is it you’re stuck in the last century???
I use the following
Visual Form Book – £1.28 per day
Racing Post (standard minimum fee) £ 0.26 per day
At the Races (free)
What do you pay? If it’s the racing post paper its £ 1.29 per day on the last count or the weekender which is a good read but is out of date almost as soon as its printed
If you use the ordinary press or phone tipsters – heaven help you
So as it’s cheaper my way – and your much more computer literate that this old guy
Here is a simple table (you know I love them)
system | Cost Per day | Interact | Going change ability | Betfair Prices update | tipster | Analyser Horses trainers/jocks | H/cap (your own) | Instant Access during racing |
VFB | £1.28 | YES | YES | YES | No | YES | YES | YES |
Racing post site | £0.26 | No | No | No | YES | Yes but not inertactive | YES | YES |
ATR | free | No | No | No | yes | No | No | No |
Racing post (interactive) | £2.22 | YES | YES | No | No | YES | YES | YES |
Racing post paper | £1.29 | No | No | No | yes | No | No | No |
Timeform radio | Free | No | No | yes | loads | no | no | Yes |
Newspaper | ? | No | No | No | loads | No | No | No |
Ok so why don’t you use a Computer system that can do everything you want it to do – can switch between screens betfair and analyser post the comments and notes – have all sorts of information that you choose to use for every race Jumps and flat
There are 8 pages of 12 columns giving you just what you need from track information best recorded speed best draw etc etc etc. each horse in each and every race – can be analysed for last run only or last 20 to 50 runs (I use benchmark of 14 runs) - The settings include The animals ability to run the track type - distance ground - even giving you knowledge of which tracks are similar - which tracks are not. (Headgear -Incl first time) Course rides /wins for Jockeys and Trainers as well as 10 year statistics across the country and direct betting changes from Betfair. all done with one click per page
With your own ideas and systems instantly before your eyes – why are you not using an interactive system?
I am convinced that you will love The Visual Form book software system and want you to apply your brilliant ideas to it. I am also convinced that if your new to racing you will have greater insights as a result of using this software.
Try the Visual Form book for one month. Is the cheapest and best value software on the market- And just as an added Bonus - win the VFb monthly Nap table and you will get the next month subscription free (you can join at any time)
So - Click on the Visual Form book logo at the top of the page and let me know when you have - I will guide You through the setting up and page settings until they are familiar and you are happy to shape the book to your own thoughts.
Disclaimer ---I do not own nor have any part of management of The Visual Form Book – just a dedicated user who wants you to get the most from racing and know this is the way to do it
Cheers
Thanks for reading
Bob

Well Bob I am with you 100% - I have never bought a Racing Post and only use my computer for data form etc. However, there are many people who prefer the paper in their hands and who's brain just absorbs the info that way - nothing to do with age!!
