Wetherby super Sprint 160711

The Weatherbys Super Sprint was first run in 1991, and it is presently restricted to 2yos which were sold or bought in as yearlings by public auction at "specified sales", or as 2yo up to and including March 1st, 2011, for £47,500 or less before July 1st, 2010, or for £50,500 or less after June 30th, 2010. The weights carried are determined by the sale price of the horses, with one pound deducted for every £3,000 the sales price is below £50,500. The minimum weight is 7st 12lb. Richard Hannon has trained 7 of the 19 winners of this race.

Colts: 4-12-122
Fillies: 6-9-110
Fillies have a slightly better record, having won 6 of the last 10 from slightly less than half the runners.
6 of 10 winners ran at Royal Ascot (3 Queen Mary, 2 Norfolk, 1 Windsor Castle)
Breeding
9 of 10 winners were by a sire with stamina index of 6.4 to 8.6
9 of 10 winners were by a group winner (exception was sired by Chevalier who ran only 3 times and was 2nd in a group 1)
8 of 10 winners (last 8) were by a sire that won or placed in listed/group race as a 2yo (2 exceptions' sires were unraced at 2)
10 of 10 winners were born before the 18th April

Weight
Horses carrying 9-0 to 9-6: 1-1-19
Horses carrying 8-7 to 8-13: 3-6-66
Horses carrying 8-0 to 8-6: 6-9-112
Horses carrying 7-7 to 7-13: 0-5-35
No strong trend on weights, though all 10 winners carried at least 8-1 or more, with only one horse managing to carry 9-0+ to victory.

Recent/Past Form
9 of 10 winners finished in first 3 on their racecourse debut
10 of 10 winners had run 1 to 5 times that season
9 of 10 winners had their last run in past 35 days
9 of 10 winners had previously won a race over 5F
0 of 10 winners had won over further than 5F
5 of 10 winners had won a listed or group race (4 of 5 exceptions had not run in a listed/group race yet)
6 of 10 winners had finished in first 2 over 5F at Windsor or Newmarket

Price
7 of 10 winners went off at 9/1 or lower.
Not a strong trends race on prices with the winners’ price in past 5 years ranging from 2/1 to 20/1 to 100/1.
Favourites (2-2-12) have won just 2 of the last 10 and show a level stakes loss of 4.00 since 2000.

Summary:
Based on trends from the past 10 years you are looking for a horse:
·         Sired by a group winner with a stamina index of 6.4 to 8.6
·         Born before 18/04/2009
·         Carrying 8-1 to 9-0
·         Had 1 to 5 career starts & ran in past 35 days
·         Finished in the first 3 on debut
·         Won a race over 5F (but no further)
·         Won a group or listed race (or yet to run above class 2)
·         Finished in first 2 in a 5F race at Windsor or Newmarket
·         Ran at Royal Ascot
·         Won National Stakes
·         Trained by Richard Hannon or Ed McMahon
all the money is coming for the Racing post pundit selection Sweet Chilli and you can see from stats and form the chances of this filly off such a low weight what puts me off a tad is her weight of 7-10 meaning she was a very cheap buy
so whats the biggest improver? - why its Sweet Chilli and it also has the best Emr figure and average speed rating -- but to me the value has gone
There are a host of animals that can be looked at and that fascinating - Dettori on 8-11 riding for Eve Johnson on Orders from Rome who looked more than a shade unlucky last time at Sandown and will carry some of my pennies drawn well and an improver
Nagham must be watched in the market for its run against Ponty Acclaim - this is an improver that has dropped below the radar  though does not get a turn around in the weights today
To be honest am not at all encouraged by hannons runners who will need further than this (watch out for lots of rain to bring them in) but Airborne Again though drawn low (last year winner came from stall 1) has a good chance of making the frame at a massive price under Dane O'Neil.
you can tell that I have no great convictions this early but suggest those mentioned should be monitored for any significant market moves
There are 14 runners that can be highlighted for this showing how open it is and how many do fullfill the trends
good luck today yummy race but not one to get carried away with
