Officials had planned an 8am inspection on today, but lows of -9C last night night determined matters earlier on.
Speaking at 6.30am today, clerk of the course Edward Arkell said: "The track's frozen solid under the covers.
"We thought we might struggle with -5C or-6C, but we had no chance with -9C.
"It's very disappointing especially as everyone has worked so hard."

I stayed up to watych the cricket and it was damned cold. I didn't think Fontwell had much chance anyway and this is the first time I can remember no racing on Boxing Day!
Happy Christmas to all!
I'm beginning to get withdrawal symptoms.....Boxing Day and no racing unheard of....Morris Dancers at the pub are no recompense! I note the forecast is for thaw later this week so we may get a full New Year's programme.
Heres to a satchel filling 2011!
been out in freezing weather but brilliant sunshine ice everywhere
best lunch of Christmas - cold meat and pickles mulled wine and armchair before the kids come round tonight for dinner and too much champers--2.0clock inspection for tomorrow perhaps maybe - KEMPTON'S rearranged King George card was 1-4 not to take place on Betfair at 10am on Sunday morning after temperatures fell much lower than forecast overnight.
Clerk of the course Barney Clifford took the decision to shift both the William Hill-sponsored King George and Christmas Hurdle back a day on Friday in the hope of the weather improving.
However, that has not materalised and with the forecast for Monday now not as positive as had been anticipated, the meeting could be lost to the weather.
that's a bit of a clue Dont you think?
