Fingers Crossed King George VI Chase at Kempton is the big race of the day. It has been won by many of the greatest steeplechasers in history and in the last decade champions such as Best Mate, Kicking King and Kauto Star. This year Kauto Star is attempting to surpass the great Desert Orchid (who was 11 years old when he won it for the 4th time)
So Can Kauto and win the race for the fifth time ? 10 left in as of today
In the last 4 seasons Not one 10 year old has won at this meeting from 26 entries So is Kauto up to it? at the price offered he is def a lay proposition in my book
Was NOT impressed with his run at Down Royal in the jwine handicap where Sizing Europe (who is NOT a true 3miler) was only beaten on the run in with Kauto being driven out from the last fence) - look back to the same race a year before and he romped home against what could be considered a better field
Burton Port, What A Friend and Noland were the three defectors at Thursday's final declaration stage.
Nicky Henderson will still be represented by second favourite Long Run and Riverside Theatre while Nicholls will saddle The Nightingale (Sam Thomas) as his second string.
The others are Forpadydeplasterer, Nacarat,✔
Sizing Europe, Planet Of Sound,✔
Madison Du Berlais and Ollie Magern
so what do you think guys?

Whichever way you look at the race (and the Down Royal run wasn't that bad Bob), Kauto Star is a knock bet at around evens.
Yep it could be a knock out bet for his class and style alone and no of course that Down Royal run was certainly not bad - But just take a look at the year before he did not have any shaking up to do at all bounded away from them was going to win from 4 out on the bridle and we took all the money for the King George on that showing - I did not have the same vibes this year from him - think the horses have highlited in purple WILL have cracking odds for the place alone - looking ominous for the race even going off though
that was 2008 - against The listener and Midnight Legend! just superbe and paid for a good holiday (with thigh rolled cigars!and all you could sup) now take another look at this years renewal Martin - may just have gone to the deepest well once too often
