New whip rules!

Im not an expert in horseracing, but as far as I understand that new rule, we are looking for a horse that travels by itself and not a horse that needs the whip to perform well? So many Frontrunners or horses that got with use of the whip punished till the line, will now perform worse as they tend to outperform or weaken or not moody to race to optimum? Its actually a funny thing with the horses, because I work in the primary school and have to support difficult children, who are aggressive or bored and are pushed to make a good degree and the parents are so concerned there is something seriously wrong with the kid, I say, that most of the time the child is just bored or intrested in something else than school, then its forced to perform and gets violent. So there is a similarity with the horses I think, that sometimes they just dont wanna perform and in general then there is the punishment with the whip, but you know what the most interesting, that the horses, that wanna perform by itself make the highest performance. As often pointed out they are not machines, the same as the children I have to support :)

This is a very good analogy with children - if you take a child who is unable to communicate properly adults seldom have the time to concentrate on what any particular day has produced and make up their own minds on what is right or wrong based on their own experiences. A child who experiences pain from an illness yet cannot communicate where that pain is concentrated is judged not on the pain experienced but on behaviour expressed at the time and treated accordingly.
when we talk of dumb animals we are talking about inability to communicate not stupidity that's a lesson that is so hard to learn. I have known professional health care workers so convinced they have the answer they will not change despite signs the treatment is wrong - what makes anyone think that trainers of horses are any different ?
Just look at the carnage that is met out to greyhounds - the poor beasts are neglected and abused like no other and its little consolation to say that horse racing riding and training is better.
