3rd MOURAD (IRE) ch. G, 2005 DP = 4-3-6-4-1 (18) DI = 1.25 CD = 0.28
5th ACROSS THE BAY
(IRE) b. G, 2004 DP = 0-1-9-2-2 (14) DI = 0.65 CD = -0.36

If you look at the sectionals of the Cleeve Hurdle quite impressive stuff of class and so all horses must be considered next time out against weaker opposition.Dynaste will win a race soon I think, this horse puts heavy front running pressure on its rivals and can run them down. I feel theres is def Win in this horse soon. Interesting to see what will happen with Mourad in the future, as this 7 year old looked very strong on the runin to me and lost maybe 4 lenghts against Dynaste being not fluent on the last,if switched slightly againste weaker opposition has all the odds, as this race is strong form. Across The Bay is just 140 rated and despite looking racing to its full capacity against this class should be considered, when racing next time out in Class2 or Class 3, as this race here was a strong form.
Module is only 5 year old and this was a top class performance, has some problems Inrunning but I highly rate his visual impression on the runin, as they went of very very fast early and from the visual impression Module looked quite strong late. This was only a class 2 race, so when staying in this class I would def bet next time out and I would also consider a step up in class next time out bet.
In the 12.55 race all first three finishers have to be considered, they are all only 4 year olds and clocked really good class 1 sectionals, quickening extremely well 3/4 to finish.Grumeti, Pearl Swan,Hollow Tree, Tango De Juilley all have shouts next time out, Tango De Juilley could be intresting next time out as is only 127 OR and if entered into a Class 2 race could have place chances.

15.10 Neptunes IM Novices Hurdles

Its interesting to see, that this was the weakest hurdles race of the meeting despite being Class 1 Grade 2. Its a 2m4f, but the sectionals are weak. The optical impression of the winner Battonier, was that its a strong improver, but with the sectionals in hand I doubt now, that it such a huge improvement. He clearly looked the strongest of the field, but its a weak race and if that performance is enough to win a Cheltenham meeting event, I doubt it now, after the sectionals.

Module impressed me the most of all Hurdles in Cheltenham, as visual it looked very strong late and they went off so quickly early that I can forgive the middle sectionals a bit.

sectional timings --- mmm are you comparing like for like here Rade? Sectional timings will show you only when you are comparing like for like you cannot compare sectional times for different distances nor between hardened experienced animals and Novices. There is more experimental work going on in novice races against what you know your animal can do when they have shown you what they are capable of.

Module did impress me too Rade apart from that big jump 2 out (where it showed is going to be a great chaser eventually) I think there is more to come over hdles and can go well at the festival if gets similar ground

I copied this method from www.minervaracing.com and find it a quite useful tool in the armoury. With the distance comparing, im aware of that, so the sectionals of the Cleeve are even more stunning i think, the weight of the Class 2 race from Module has to be considered aswell as they all raced off a lower weight. The Module race impressed me in so far, that they went so fast early, which takes out huge energy as it wasnt an even pace and then too finsih like Module after that is a good effort i think, that has to be noted. As for the Novice race and the Battonier race, Battonier raced a Class 1 Grade 2 Hurdle and they went much slower early or during the whole race and then especially the finsih times from 3/4 on are much weaker, so I would think, that the first three out of the Novice race are capable of beating Battonier, when they race each other and repeat the same performance. Battonier has 7 lenghts 2nd to Barbatos though LTO and in opposition has a 3rd to PSI and Merehead, which are not Class 1 animals, but this was Ascot 2nd LTO. So im not sure how good Battonier actually is, if it improved immense and what to do with him next time out. It will be def interesting to see, what he will do next time out and if sectional give some help in the betting armoury.

As for the Battonier race its 2m4f so you cannot compare it accurately, so this is a very unknown to me too.
visually from all races though it didnt look strongly run and clockwise i think aswell maybe for a class 1 in any part of the race.
Though this will be very interesting to see next time out, Im also interested in the Grumeti race for next time out, as this was a very steady fast pace withou interruption, which is i read the best was for an animal too make top performance. Maybe when faced next time out with an interrupted pace, it will be a more difficult task?

I have time for sectionals but it is a very misleading tool you cannot say you are making any sort of adjustment that gives you other than a comparison of like for like ground for ground quality for quality - I have heard over the years that a horse that can run fast sectionals over 2m1f are capable of repeating these over a half mile further-- it does not happen except by chance - hold up horses are content to make use of slow sectionals bridle horses love em - same horses are NOT inconvenienced by running at a faster pace as long as they can run the same hold up /bridle race
