Ground is forecast g/frm for this 3miles and Tizzard has Joe up on No Woman No Cry and this animal has a lot of blue about it for this race - can handle the right handed track well enough from its run at Taunton beginning of the year on ground a bit too tacky - Clements rode it(7lbs) to its win at newton abbot 2m3f and Joe rode it to win off a mark of 88 again at newton abbot when it came with a wet sail from off the pace and won going away in grade 5 - last run was in this grade today in a bit better race against horses rated well above him he was 94 the rest in the low hundreds (really thrown in at the deep end) has a better chance against these today.
Opposition is in the main O´CALLAGHAN STRAND who has it all to do even under McCoy - is a very one paced individual at the end of his races and even with O'Neil yard coming to form I cannot have this one other than a lay over this distance and under this weight.
The joker in the pack has to be the 3yr old Bathwick Scanno for pipe upped to this trip for the first time and running under a feather weight .blinks are back on and he ran well enough last time against some decent animals but seems to have been harshly penalised for his first handicap having a Dah rating of a maximum 76 he gets a hefty 89 today and the 7lbs claim gets nowhere near that but can run into the place market at least.
good luck all
Bob
result --- A modest handicap hurdle at best, in which quite a few had a chance turning in.
FRESHER FISHING, absent since winning at this course last April, had been raised a huge 14lb for his victory (next two home have both won at least once since) and completed the double under a brave front-running ride. However, he wouldn´t be one to be lumping on for the hat-trick unless found a weak contest as it´s possible this isn´t strong form and eh raced lazily at times.
O´Callaghan Strand had beaten wide distances since winning at Worcester in late June, trip may have been an excuse on his previous outing, but returned to something a bit better here after holding every chance. He ran like a horse in the grip of the handicapper.
Saint Peray, a half-brother to useful jumper Moulin Riche, won three points (started favourite for all of them) before walking over back in May, when last seen. Sold for £8,000 afterwards, he travelled like the best horse for much of the contest but lacked a little bit of speed from two out. He ought to be winning over hurdles before going chasing again.
No Woman No Cry, with blinkers on for the first time, likes fast ground but was one paced when it mattered, as was Final Flyer.
Both David Pipe runners, Ladyvie and Bathwick Scanno ran well below expectations and were beaten some way from home.[DT]
