The Dosage System

Ben Aitkin  is both a brilliant Blogger and avid reader of the Racecaller site his expertise is in providing stats on breeding and bloodlines - I  recommend his site to everyone as vital thoughts on upcoming races and to be added to your favourites bar!
here is a sample of post race thoughts on the St Leger winner

"Overall the stats are telling us that if you had blindly followed the winners of the past 15 St Leger’s for the remainder of their careers you would have made a loss.  Only 6 of them returned a profit overall and only MILLENARY made it worthwhile to follow blindly. If you are going to back the St Leger winner in the rest of their career make sure you pick your spots wisely.

The interesting angle may be to look at backing them if they run again that season. A number of them are put away for the remainder of the season but those that do reappear have turned a profit if blindly backing them - +£1.30. Not a fortune but it is an angle that shows profit.

I would never recommend following an angle blindly but what the stats do suggest is that if the Leger winner reappears that season you should take a closer look. The last 15 winners have accumulated 9 runs between them in the months after their Leger success and on 6 of those occasions they have made the places. With Betfair allowing place only betting this again is an angle we can look to profit from.

At the moment the word seems to be that a crack at the Breeders Cup may be on the card for Saturday's Leger winner Arctic Cosmos......."
