Ayr Gold cup result and review

One out of three selections aint bad!!! especially as it rewarded us at 18s in the morning
the more important aspect is to read what went on in the race and why?
First off  the draw - Ben Aitken  stats were the most important  for us to consider when related to the draw.
He pointed out in his analysis we should get away from the preconceived concept that the draw in the Bronze cup and Silver cup should not be be given the weight we all gave it in the past !!!
And how did they run ?

Silver Cup winner came from Low drawn7  and second from the 8 box - third from the 25 box high
Gold Cup - winner came from  med draw 17 second from 24 high  and third  from 8 box low.

from the racing post results page - "A red-hot contest as one would expect for the money on offer, which included a horse placed in Group 1 company on its previous start.

The first four in 2009 re-opposed, and the winner´s of many big sprint handicaps during the season also lined up for a sizeable prize.

The Silver Cup earlier on the card appeared to suggest that low numbers might have the advantage, but it swung back in the favour of the near-side, although whichever part of the track the winner had come down, there is a fair chance he would have prevailed.

A bit of drama unfolded even before the field hurtled down the track, as Tajneed, runner-up in the 2008 renewal to a subsequent dual Group 1 winner, broke through his stall and was withdrawn. That was the only bit of bad news for trainer David Nicholls, who repeated his feat of 2008 in sending out the first and second.

REDFORD finally delivered on the big stage, something he has looked capable of doing on quite a few occasions in the past. He had caught the eye at Chester on his previous start from off the pace over 7.5f and could be spotted tanking away behind runners here. It was a fine ride by Dettori, as he failed to panic in the final stages, and whilst being strong in the saddle, he didn´t seem to resort to hiswhip that much, if at all. The plan is head to Ascot next Saturday for the 7f heritage handicap. Again I would direct you to the dosage factor put up by Ben

Striking Spirit another I thought had a decent chance - led the stand side group until headed inside the final furlong soon weakened and finished 7th of the 10 that ran that side

Noverre To Go off since his fifth in the Stewards´ Cup, looked to have every chance coming to the 2f marker, but dropped away quite quickly once under pressure. Something seemed amiss. "

Hope you did well at the meeting as a whole

 BobT
