Hi everyone

If the Cheltenham Paddy Power Open meeting was a taster of what is to come this National Hunt season then count me in!
AL FEROF, GRANDS CRUS, BRAMPOUR, FINGAL BAY, STEPS TO FREEDOM (to name but a few) all put down major markers for the season ahead whilst at the same time letting connections know that they fully intend to be involved when the festival strolls into view in March!
There were, however, plenty of eye-catching performances outwith the winners this weekend and here are 3 that went in (or in 1 case stayed in!) my notebook -

I have a question to you I wanted to ask you all the time, when making notes, what kind of animal you make notes of? Im asking this because it doesnt make sense to alwas make notes just for the winner valuewise.

Thats a very good question Rade - there are very few nailed on reasons for Notes simply because a horse won forget it unless you have seen something in the style of the win that you like. Some notes are more positive than others would not pass another as long as the race was run - coward - dodge pot - DO NOT BACK THIS FURTHER THAN 2MILES - "showboat ride at brighton won well 260811"
3rd class+ 111011 won well newc
etc.
that way I can see them on the card and look to see if they better drawn/ handicapped/ better ground etc.. late run bad drawn 021111 fin like train Is it better drawn today winner without a penalty?

Notes can be cryptic as you like but all runs are pretty well much forgotten until the next time you see the animal - just on the form it may look solid - or out of it
notes provoke thought for analysis

Thank you very much Bob,what you say of the style of the horse is for example the case I had with Edgardo Sol a horse that won on Saturday for me 7/1 BSP. I watched before the videos of every runner in the race and Edgardo Sol was to me well ahead, as he had a Chase before when the race was truly run and the horse finished so strongly that when compared by eye watching of the videos the other were far away. Just trough formanalysis no chance to get this selection. His style was in the race again perfect to me. Its an animal I like from balance of running style and having power at the end.

I checked the links and good comments, we should def back Noble Alan at big odds soon.

The style I like for Edgardo Sol is, that its a massive horse incorporating massive power when running on. Im not sure in what events it will be entered next but seems to me that it will win soon higher class events.

I'd like to add that if you ALWAYS have a back up of your notes. If it wasn't for Bob I'd have a lot on my plate right now.

My comments on this dosage lark - which must play a part in out armoury ia; ask Ben to send me his email! This is nothing against Ben whatsoever, and I'll explain why - I've had EIGHT books on Horse Racing published (under different guises), a number of what Bob loves 'systems' also under various guises and they are still money-makers today, but I am inundated with mails. I answer all of them because I want to help people. Everyone suffers in one way or the other - my health has been poorly for a number of reasons, which is why I am not published lately, but I have 4 subscription based services - I don't call them 'tipping' services, they are investment opportunities. Oh! I donate 50% of my profits to various charities, and will continue to do so. I don't know with any certainty when I will finally fall off my perch - I just hope it's near or at Beechers Brook lol Bob knows more than I ever will and I urge you to heed his advice. A better man I will never meet! I haven't slept more than twice in 19 years - my time is spent trying to find different 'angles', note taking included. The best horse I have ever seen is Brigadier Gerard - that was an animal (although not so good when soft) - Denamn's Hennessy and Gold Cup were sights to behold and Frankel this season has been nothing short of a revelation...that brings me to a post :)
