New noting approach!

I have an idea for noting several horses and keep a record of them how they perform next time out.

The approach is this:

Im looking for the fastest races of the day in a meeting and make a note for every horse that finished close or won or which is think made a good performance. I only look for good run races and note the horses.
Next time out theyre backed or qualify as selection. My help is here the search a meeting window in the VFB. I could imagine that there are several next time out winners with this selection method. I will highlight them in my notes as for example 14/11/2011 TRRS ( True Run Race Selection)

Example:

14/11/2011 Leicester

Not till Monday,Quiet Whisper,Vertueux, Argaum, Golden Future

Plumpton

Notus De La Tour

13/11/2011

Cheltenham

I noted Brampour, Olofi, Abergavenny, Moon Dice

Limerick

Golden Sunbird, Knockfierna,Ballinahowlady, Special Token

Navan

Bog Warrior

12/11/2011

Cheltenham

Great Endeavour

Wetherby

Court Red Handed, Sandsofthecolloseum,Wolf moon

Uttoxeter

Chariot Charger, Universal Soldier

Naas

Quel Esprit

TRRS is my little sign in my notes for these horses and I will report how they perform. Its a test and maybe worthwile with further investigation.

Question to Bob:

I wanna a have a really selective approach and only note horses from races when it was really truly run, like the Cheltenham race on Saturday with Brampour, what do you suggest Bob to find these races and which horses would you note out of this race?

A good indication of the fastest run races, is to either manually calculate secs per furlong or merely look at the racing posts web site which will give you ehese times under RESULTS --> meeting --> ana;ysis of times. Here is an example of yesterdays fakenham times from the web site:

From this you will see that Helpston in the 2.40 was the fastest - I then use the old adage of anything withing the distance of the race as a qualifier e.g if its a 16 furlong race, anything within 16 lengths and so on ....

You are right to try as many methods as are available through the VFB and am sure you are taking in more than speed figures for NH races - anything chosen on single criteria is extremely dodgy and simply pointing out the difference between a sharp track and galloping track ground and distance front runners in race and race conditions are all available once your note has attracted your eye back to the race you watched - Keep with the alerts for these animals and will be looking for TTRS in future postings from you
