Laying

Lying can be the fastest way to the poor house (close behind backing odds on Novice chasers)-also, NEVER ever lay above 5.0 !! You need to concentrate on Handicaps - mainly because each horse is rated to dead heat - that's an edge. Make a list of handicap races where the favourite is 4/1 (5.0) or less and then try to find weaknesses in the horse - ground, trip, number of runners etc etc the list is endless. You need to find at least THREE reasons why the horse could lose - use postdata in the Racing Post to gain confidence - if it has 2 crosses, then it's a possible lay. When you start to get the hang of things, PAPER trade for a month at least - Oh! and ensure you have a good starting bank solely for this purpose. A £200 starting bank, laying at 1% of the bank = £2 stake per lay. I use 4 laying systems, and they average 30 points profit per 1 point every month! That's a lot of money - also, be disciplined and from your notes, be ready to lay dodgepots, especially those that won't go past other horses - you'll get very small odds and nice profits on these animals.
