The Magic Bishop 3.0 BSP favourite in the 13.55 Carlisle 2m4f Hcp Chase is a reall good LAY Back opportunity. I watched the horses races and its racing very far away off the pace, see its last run against todays rival Et Maintenant. Carlisle track really doesnt suit his running style I would say as if Et Maintenant goes the pace like LTO The Magic Bishop is far away from the field. The horse came very late LTO but got in his favour a long climbing uphill run in Hexham to play out his stamina strength. Today the track configuration is very different and I favour a horse that can race with the pace to win this contest today. To its really a good Lay Back opportunity!
Palace Jester breeding by Kings Theatre BSP 11 raced 2nd LTO in a Carlisle Novice Chase Class 4 with decent newcomer animals on todays conditions. Was brought down but raced effortlessly with the pace and looked the freshest animal in the field and seemed to me to have good finish power in hand. Raced 14/01/2011 on 2mile Huntington Novice Hurdle Class 4 a 3rd place finishing 6,5 lenghts behind Spirit Son a Class 1 Novice Hurdle G1 2nd over 17 furlongs at a good pace. Has ideal Days since Ran break and is an autumn animal from stats. LTO was simply outclassed in a very strong field.

Rade, Carlisle HAS a stiff uphill finish mate
I know but i think Hexham is longer and climb and in general Carlisle seems to go more downhil than uphill.Just in the end its uphill.
Sorry mate - sometimes I am more of a hindrance than a help lol
I agree with Martin Rade - its a real tuff test from the bottom of the hill and horses that run at Hexham do have a good record here. The Magic Bishop is a bridle horse who achieved close to this chase mark over hdles - the way I am backing it is - in running for the win after the off as his price lengthens - went out to 16s at Hexham last run - his nearest rival is a Sue Smith horse who had to be driven hard last time here to get this mark - Shayne Burn is decent lil rider and whip may not be as necessary - and Blue Shark bred from the same sire as Big Bucks runs well the second time out -- so wil be watching for a late lay and get out for a profit
Youre right sorry, I would bet Magic Bishop Inrunning as you say. But is very far off the pace, iam not sure if the horse gets today the win again. As to You Know Yourself, won in Carlisle in a very weak race actually, do you think it will struggle today?
Nope I dont think it will struggle Rade but will be outpaced early - if it isn't is my worry for the win. but Costello gets on well with the animal and will drop him out just behind the pace (as there are four faster animals records in this) but none of them have performed well this course GL -- has a good record running within these days since run BTL IN RUNNING running for me
Bob says,
"so wil be watching for a late lay and get out for a profit"
Lay of which horse?
Back to lay = back a horse and then lay it later in the race when its price is SHORTER than the back price you took ...... that's the idea anyway! lol
NIce when plan works out but it wasnt the hill that beat it was it guys ---- that was a shuddering smash
I had an inrunning bet of Bishop at 3.7, but unlucky thats stumbled on the fence :(
