going and weather Monday 8th November - BobT

Monday: Going, weather and non-runners

CARLISLE  GOING: HEAVY (GoingStick 5.2) WEATHER (White cloud) NON RUNNERS 1:55 What A Steel (1)
The course is right-handed, pear-shaped and undulating, a mile and five furlongs in extent. The track is a particularly stiff one and the uphill home stretch is very severe. There are nine fences to a circuit with a run-in of 300 yards. Perhaps due to the nature of the track, the fences are among the easiest in the country. A long-striding galloper suited by a real test of stamina is an ideal type for Carlisle. this is very much a horses for courses with the race unfolding late - usually close up animals at three from home shortening the prices considerably its stiff and uphill finish means you def need a horse that can stay further and right handed is a must
SOUTHWELL  GOING: GOOD (Good to firm in places; GoingStick 8.4) (The fences are 16 metres off the inside rail. Both bends are in the centre)  WEATHER (Light rain) NON RUNNERS 12:40 Potemkin (3), 2:45 Sumner (5)
track is laid out in a fairly tight, level oval of less than a mile and a quarter. In 2002/3 the circuit was divided into a summer and a winter track, with the slightly larger summer track on the outside of the winter one. The runners go left-handed. There are seven portable fences to a circuit which are stiff ones for a minor track. The brush-type hurdles can also catch out less fluent jumpers. Charlie Mann has an excellent strike rate here over the last 5 years winning 36% of his entries - Fehily who is in great form rides well for him - smaller trainers who have a decent strike rate here should be considered - these are very much preparation days for the bigger stables and they like to "find out" at this track

 good luck today

let me know if i should continue this thread please am hoping this information is valuable to you and the course comments intended for you to copy and paste into whatever study book you use - the information is well demonstrated in the VFB where you can quickly switch between similar tracks to see what suits the animal your pin falls on - will appreciate any feed back over a while if you use it
