Best prize money of the day and soft ground to contend with

only One 3 yr old winner in the last 10 years is a worry as most of them are still unfurnished and have had a hard season
favourites don't have the greatest record either  so beware a 3 yr old Favourite that has had a hard season.
Fahey  has got 5 runners today - he has won the race the last 2 years running  with a 4yr old and a 7 yr old
last year he won it with kaldoun kingdom who runs again today - last year he was in good form having run a blinder in the Ayr Silver cup...
this years silver cup could provide the winner again today -  The field split into two main packs, although the well-fancied Definightly,(Runs Tomorrow at the Currugh!) who was chasing a hat-trick after winning in Listed company on his previous outing, and was10lb well in despite the 8lb penalty he carried, stayed towards the middle of the course which, with hindsight, was seemingly the slowest part of the track. The 3-y-os that have taken this contest usually go on to be decent (Utmost Respect in 2007 and Eisteddfod in 2004), so connections of COLONEL MAK  winner can startdreaming of better things to come. Raised 5lb for his Leicester success at the end of last month, a race that has worked out well, he came with a strong late burst on the farside to claim his biggest success.Irish Heartbeat,5th raised 5lb for his win at Doncaster, hadn´t won over this distance but looked to be travelling well just over a furlong out. He kept on but wasn´t able to win the race on his side. Manassas,(6th) visored for the first time, is on a fair mark and showed good pace until steadily weakening.Able Master,(8th) (Colins selection )off the track since finishing well behind Laddies Poker Two in the Wokingham Handicap, looked a little unlucky as he met trouble in running on at least a couple of occasions.

the distance from 1st to 8th was only 5l or so and for a sprint thats nothing ! --

Ground - those proven are  Irish Heartbeat (twice) and Colonel Mak (once)----

Draw---- this race on soft ground gives an advantage to the middle to low normally but there is pace right across the field today yesterday the ground really did favour the low drawn animals over 6flngs  and that must Favour Irish heartbeat and Able Master  in this race --

Like all sprints its a lottery and the trends can only point to looking at past winners - not trouble in running!

 Summary
Horse that went well in recent races with emphasis on the silver cup at Ayr
 5 year old carrying 9st+
drawn Low
trained by Fahey
not the favourite

MY pin has to be drawn towards Irish Heartbeat Faheys ridden by Hannagan as the most likely winner ran close to today mark in the silver cup and trading this morning around 9s

Colonal Mak  should make the frame at least - ran to this mark last time and loves the ground - only its 3 yr old makes me think it may have too much to do today to win it -

Able Master is a cracking place bet for me - has the draw it needs

Jokers in the pack ---Tagneed - Dandy Nichols runner with his son on board has the best recent profile winning his last race at Ripon with something in hand - drawn in the middle and Dandys only runner!!!!
watch out for money on Masamah -- this is one speedy animal without any real form shown so far on soft ground but breeding suggests it can go on it  and the same sort of Profile for Swilly Ferry who is the biggest prize winner

edit after race
RESULT --- Fathsta 14/1  well well the ground was suitable last 3 runs cooked for 2nd  turned out to be better performance than suspected  5y old bottom weight drawn 15
2 Damien 18/1  see comment before race to martin - place market 7.2!
3 Irish Heartbeat 7/1
4 Parisian Pyramid 40/1

winners came from High oh well! still a brillaint performance for the top trend to get third place from that draw came there cruising---As always, a smart and competitive sprint handicap. They were fanned out across the track, the winner coming more towards the near side.

FATHSTA has been in really good form of late but stepped it up another notch here to defy a career-high mark, bursting clear towards the near side approaching the final 1f. He´ll be up in the low 100s when reassessed and will need to improve again to defy that mark.

Damien has only a maiden win to his name but the ability has always been there and he ran his best race of the season, impressing with the way he travelled. He hasn´t had many runs on soft ground but has always gone well on it.

Irish Heartbeat is right back in form and will remain one to bear in mind, though he doesn´t always deliver that much off the bridle and will need things to drop right. His rider was possibly unaware of the winner making his move wide of him but the fact he was even run out of second late on suggests he can´t be considered unlucky.

hope you did well - turns out the stat for the favourite stands up and was well layed by me! backing the "jokers" in the place market place made a profit but did not lay off my selection in running!

Knot in Wood (one of Faheys) would be a big danger with more rain and if returning to best

I agree martin is always worth a look at the older animals I make it 3lbs well in - but there are too many to back that have chances and at 8yr old am leaving it alone - you could even fancy the 33/1 shot Damien and if money comes for it would be very interested. colt by Darshaan - could possibly get home on the ground but but but --- whats your fancy is the point?
