The Package for me in this race - was a brilliant run last year behind Ellerslie George - runs well fresh and Murphy gets on so well with him and rides this track well and this race in particular is a complete ride handed animal and the Pipe yard in tremendous form - why is young Tom Scu not on him - he has no booked rides today is he banned ?
-----------------------------------------
Result --A race that is always well contested, this year´s edition was no different, and the pace set by last season´s winner Ellerslie George was a good one, ensuring it was a proper test. Two handled it considerably better the rest and drew 19l clear, with a first-time blinkered MEANUS DANDY staying on too strongly for Buena Vista, the latter having only his second start over fences since the spring of 2007.
The winner, who had disappointed on both starts since winning off 7lb lower at Sandown last March, is reportedly ideally suited by 3m on a flat track, which he got here, and the headgear enabled him to travel much better than he had done in the past. It was clear from some way out that he was going to play a leading role in the outcome of the race, and his rider kept at him in the straight before the pair began to assert from the last, a good jump helping. He´s the type to develop into a Grand National horse one day, but for now at least it more likely to be the Topham come April. He has no specificshort-term plans, although a race like the Eider at Newcastle later in the season could suit.
Buena Vista, last season´s Pertemps winner off just 1lb higher, had only had two runs over fences since finishing sixth in the Arkle as a novice way backin 2007, his last being in the summer of 2008, but he jumped well with the cheekpieces back on and was the only one capable of giving the winner a race. He couldn´t stay on as strongly in the end, but is clearly up to mixing it in good handicap chases aswell as hurdles.
Ellerslie George, just 1lb higher than when successful a year ago, sprung back into life with the first-time blinkers on, racing in a clear lead, and it was surprising to see him rally, having been headed at the fourth from home. To his credit he managed to keep on down the straight to hold on for a place.
I´moncloudnine, runner-up at Bangor off 4lb lower on his reappearance, was solid in the market and ran well in this stronger heat, just missing third.
The Package,6lb higher than when narrowly denied in last season´s William Hill at Cheltenham, is still only seven and expected to take another step forward in top staying handicap chases this season. He didn´t shape badly, assuming the run would have been needed, and will presumably head to Cheltenham´s December meeting now, as he did last year.
Irish Raptor is back on a very good mark now and he´ll presumably head for the Becher next, a race he often contends without success.
Cullahill was racing from4lb ´wrong´ and will find easier opportunities than this, with similar comments applying toCarrickmines. Ouzbeck never got into it, and neither did second-season chaser Forest Pennant, whose jumping let him down.
Triggerman found this all too competitive, while Comply Or Die very much ran as though the race was needed.
High-class handicap chaser chaser Niche Market, making his debut for Paul Nicholls off a very reasonable mark, was going nicely enough when coming down at the 12th, but it was too early to determine how he would have fared.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and just looking through the posts now. You've probably noticed but look at which trainer has won this race the most times and who won it again today. Betfair's favourite blogger Mr Nicholls (Although he did have 3 horses running in the field). Shows you that the trends work though.
Hindsight is vital Jon - post notes on how they run and hindsight will be foresight when your notes come good!
I thought it was Yoda talking for a moment. Wise words again.
