Melbourne Cup- result and Trends BobT

well if you love horse racing then this years Melbourne was for you. Of all the races have watched over the years this one has to be the very top of memory lane.-- My Profound Beauty just did not get into it simply did not fire - forgive her that run badly drawn nowhere to go and lacked pace but that was not her showing at all.
BUT what a hell of a race just the best to show the sport in its best light. The trends were spot on Winner was just soooooooooo good

Americain drawn 12 - age 5 carrying 54 Kilo won its last 4 races

Travelled well in midfield, shakened up 3f out and started to close, 8th 2f out, ridden and running on down centre of track, 5th 1 1/2f out, led approaching final 110yds, won going away. Mosse showed just what a brilliant Jockey he is and if you get a chance to watch the race urge you to do so - will set your heart Tingling --
though I of course was disappointed by Profound Beauty run there was some consolation in following the trends and laying the favourite - but even that caused my poor old heart to flutter as it came with what looked a withering run  (always do when you have layed them don't they?)

This is the first time have tried to put up the trends and have to thank racecaller for the world wide stuff - hope you enjoyed them and will now turn my attention to the Breeders cup - pity the Vfb does not cover world races  but there you go - already the database for Uk races has 5000 animals in detail at a touch of a button - its hard work having to go through the racing post and Atr to get the feel of racing abroad and makes me feel vulnerable  with so much collation not done for me!

was a great race and Americain did it brilliantly. I had question marks over that fav due to the trip and if you watch the race again the horse pulled the whole way round he never settled at all. I think Maluckyday was my other eyecatcher. If you watch it again he just gets stuck behind and didn't have a clear way through he wouldn't have won but would have been closer I think. Great race though.
